Ok let's see - we have an image hosted on a profile that is 1 day old and asks you to visit a website with a strange url with a promise of a financial reward on an another website. How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

Bronies go nuts, and Nintendo Sucks?Equestria Girls
The trailer to "Equestria Girls" (the humanized MLP spinoff film) finally was released today. Aaaannnd everyone's freaking out. Again.
You know, it actually looks pretty decent. Bronies... please understand: I know you're a major unexpected demographic for the show. I know you enjoy seeing shout-out's become canon within the show, and appreciate how the creators do little things here and there for you. But... the show isn't made for you. This is not Cartoon Network and the target demographic isn't 25 year olds in college. You're a nice addition to the target demographic of little girls, but you are not the driving force behind MLP.
I don't want this to sound mean, but it needs to be said. This is where it becomes very important to understand the fine line between being a fan of the show and thinking that because you've invested so much energy into the show that you're entitled to things.
I'm sure the movie won't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It honest

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

MFA Thesis: an Update

"Thirdborn: the Divine Library" [link], my MFA thesis project, is now on display at the Arcade Gallery at the Columbia College Chicago [link] and will be there until the end of October. It is currently part of the 2012 Albert P. Weisman Award Exhibition, which displays projects by Columbia students that were funded by a grant from the Weisman Award Committee, a group that includes my own piece "Thirdborn."

During the opening reception of the Exhibition last Thursday, the Committee gave out Awards to three of the projects on display. I received the Purchase Award, meaning that one of the works from "Thirdborn: the Divine Library" [link] will now become a part of the Weisman Awards art collection. It was a good way to start out the afternoon; as I explored the art of fellow Weisman Award winners, I learned about other artists who created comic books, including an ambitious project called "The Illustrated Press" [link], which is essentially journalism through comics, and learned of a few places to look for a publisher or agent. To close up the night, I went out to a burger bar as a way of saying goodbye to some of the friends I had made over my three years at Columbia.

Now I'm back in St. Louis, trying to figure out my next step in life as I'm bombarded with ideas from friends and family about career. I still don't know what kind of role "Thirdborn" will have in my future, but I'm sure there's a spot for it somewhere.
